Turin, Italy, 21 November 2022 - The historic brand Gebrüder Thonet Vienna GmbH (GTV), globally recognised for their high quality bent wood furniture and accessories, is proud to announce its collaboration with Austrian luxury textile company Backhausen.

Established in 1849, Backhausen has always distinguished itself for the production of incredibly high quality fabrics, boasting a design archive including approximately 5000 original patterns, motifs and designs stemming from the era of the Wiener Werkstätte and signed by the great artists of the Art Nouveau.

In addition to the quality of the handmade products and their Austrian roots and heritage, Gebrüder Thonet Vienna and Backhausen have both worked with iconic designers such as Otto Wagner, Josef Hoffmann and Koloman Moser, amongst others.

Reflecting the perfect balance between tradition and innovation, the vast range of seatings by Gebrüder Thonet Vienna is now enhanced by the new upholstery by Backhausen. Two historical patterns of the textile brand are available in different colourways, from the soft tones of brown and beige to the more bright and intense options of vermilion red, green and blue.

The two new designs which are now part of Gebrüder Thonet Vienna’s portfolio are the Wienersteig, originally designed in 1909 by Josef Hoffmann and inspired by forest paths with geometric motifs, and the Wiener Geflecht that recalls the weaving pattern typical of the Vienna straw.

"We are incredibly proud to augment our collection of textiles with the high-end fabrics realised for us by Backhausen. The new designs mirror the quality of our products and is a pleasure to align with such a historic company that boasts tradition and culture that are very similar to those of Gebrüder Thonet Vienna" - says Riccardo Pigati, CEO of Gebrüder Thonet Vienna GTV.
