Sergio Casoli is an acclaimed gallerist and expert in post-war, modern and contemporary art. Born in Milan, he opened his first Studio Casoli gallery in 1985 in Lucio Fontana’s former atelier, expanding in the 1990s with a second space in Milan and a third in Rome. In 2001, Casoli left the gallery world and moved to Filicudi, one of the most remote Aeolian islands, known for its unspoilt beauty. In 2018, he joined forces with Mattia De Luca to open Casoli De Luca gallery in the noble Palazzo Albertoni Spinola in Rome, before leaving the enterprise at the end of 2019. In 2022, just over 20 years since he closed Studio Casoli gallery, he reopened it by the sea, in the ancient fishing village of Pecorini a Mare in Filicudi, where he has a five-room hotel, La Sirena. He inaugurated the space with an exhibition of the work of Peter Doig. Studio Casoli also runs a summer residency programme to support artists’ practices. Residents, to date, have included Seboo Migone, Mani Tiberi and Luca di Luzio.
