The Johanssen Gallery represents artists working on the line between fine and applied arts, those who dare to explore the "grey zone", with the focus on the newest graphics, illustration, animation, sculpture and book art.
The director, Pascal Johanssen (b. 1973), was born in Berlin. After studying Law, he worked as a research fellow at the University of Arts in Berlin. During its four years in Berlin, Johanssen Gallery has become the area's epicenter for illustration, contemporary graphics and cutting edge art.
The gallery is located at the Direktorenhaus, situated at “Am Krögel 2” it is right in the centre of town in Berlin-Mitte, between Alexanderplatz and the Nikolai Viertel district, directly on the banks of the River Spree, overlooking the old harbour.
