Si è tenuta giovedì 17 settembre a Palazzo Franchetti, sede dell’Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere e Arti, la cerimonia di assegnazione e premiazione dei tre ambiti riconoscimenti nell’ambito della The Venice Glass Week:  il Premio Glass in Venice, il Premio Fondazione di Venezia per The Venice Glass Week (terza edizione) e Autonoma Residency Prize (quarta edizione). Ad aprire la serata, moderata da Jean Blanchaert, il conferimento del prestigioso Premio Glass in Venice - organizzato dall’Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti e dalla Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, attribuito ad artisti e maestri del vetro distinti particolarmente - quest’anno assegnato a Guido Ferro e Giorgio Vigna.

La terza edizione del Premio Fondazione di Venezia, invece, è stata assegnata alla De Santillana Foundation Stichting e alle Gallerie dell’Accademia di Venezia per la mostra Laura de Santillana. Oltre la materia curata da Rainald Franz e Michele Tavola. Inoltre, dalla Giuria - composta dal curatore Jean Blanchaert, dalla Cancelliera dell’Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere e Arti Giovanna Palandri e dal Consigliere Generale della Fondazione di Venezia Paola Marini - sono state assegnate a quattro progetti, altrettante menzioni speciali: A Destiny In Glass. 13 Artists at Fornace Anfora, organizzata da Veniceartfactory a SPARC* - Spazio Arte Contemporanea; Lilla Tabasso e Xavier F. Salomon: Omaggio a Rosalba Carriera, organizzato da Caterina Tognon Arte contemporanea; alla mostra Murano: Upcycling Glass, al Museo del Vetro e organizzata dal Consorzio Promovetro Murano con il contributo di Regione del Veneto e Camera di Commercio Venezia e Rovigo, e realizzata in collaborazione con Comune di Venezia, Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, CoReVe - Consorzio Recupero Vetro e Compagnia Energetica Italiana e, infine, Fiori di Vetro: le creazioni di Minako Shimonagase al Museo di Palazzo Mocenigo, organizzato da Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia e Comune di Venezia.

La quarta edizione dell’Autonoma Residency Prize è stata assegnata al collettivo russo FRESH.GLASS, partecipante a The Venice Glass Week HUB Under35 con il progetto OIOIIO Luminaires.

A conclusione della cerimonia, un lungo applauso e standing ovation sono stati dedicati al presente Lino Tagliapietra, presente in sala, geniale maestro vetraio il cui talento è riconosciuto a livello internazionale come uno dei più completi di sempre, protagonista di una esposizione a Ca’ Rezzonico fino al 25 settembre. On 17th September the Festival Award Ceremony took place at Palazzo Franchetti, home of the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti. Three hotly contested prizes were awarded: the Premio Glass in Venice (11th edition), the Premio Fondazione di Venezia per The Venice Glass Week (3rd edition) and the Autonoma Residency Price (4th edition). Moderated by Jean Blanchaert, the ceremony kicked off with the awarding of the Premio Glass in Venice to Guido Ferro and Giorgio Vigna. The prestigious award, organised by the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti together with the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, is presented to exceptional artists and masters in the field of artistic glass.

The third edition of the Premio Fondazione di Venezia was awarded to De Santillana Foundation Stichting and Gallerie dell'Accademia di Venezia for the exhibition Laura de Santillana. Before announcing the winner, the Prize Jury – made up of curator Jean Blanchaert, Chancellor of the Istituto Veneto Giovanna Palandri and General Councillor of the Fondazione di Venezia Paola Marini - gave a Special Mention to four other noteworthy exhibitions: A Destiny In Glass. 13 Artists at Vetreria Anfora, organised by Veniceartfactory and open until 13th October at SPARC* - Spazio Arte Contemporanea; Self-Portraits. Lilla Tabasso and Xavier F. Salomon: Homage to Rosalba Carriera, organised by Caterina Tognon arte contemporanea; Murano: Upcycling Glass at Museo del Vetro, organised by Consorzio Promovetro Murano with Regione del Veneto and Camera di Commercio Venezia e Rovigo, Comune di Venezia, Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia and CoReVe - Consorzio Recupero Vetro e Compagnia Energetica Italiana; Glass flowers. Minako Shimonagase’s Creations at Museo di Palazzo Mocenigo, organised by Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia and Comune di Venezia.

The fourth edition of the Autonoma Residency Prize was awarded to the Russian collective FRESH.GLASS, for their installation OIOIIO Luminaires in The Venice Glass Week HUB Under 35.

At the end of the ceremony, Lino Tagliapietra - whose works are currently on view in an exhibition at Ca’ Rezzonico - received a standing ovation and a heartfelt round applause, in recognition of his remarkable talents as one of Murano’s most internationally celebrated glass masters.

A partire da The Venice Glass Week HUB e The Venice Glass Week HUB Under35 all'Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere e Arti in campo Santo Stefano, fino ad arrivare alle fornaci, ai laboratori artigiani, agli eventi speciali in musei e hotel e ai tanti tour ed esperienze, il protagonista è sempre stato il vetro artistico e le sue tradizionali e antiche lavorazioni, così come le esperienze più giovani e innovative. Mostre, laboratori, dimostrazioni, ma anche conferenze, spettacoli e attività per bambini sono stati tra gli oltre 250 eventi organizzati e proposti da artisti, gallerie, musei, fondazioni, associazioni provenienti da tutto il mondo.

Fired up by The Venice Glass Week 2023, we look forward to welcoming you again next year for our eighth edition!The seventh edition of The Venice Glass Week, #TheArtofFire, came to an end on Sunday 17th September. The international glass festival took place over the course of 9 days, featuring a broad and diverse Programme of over 250 high quality events and initiatives, designed to appeal to audiences of all kinds. Taking place around Venice, Murano and Mestre, the festival involved over 140 different venues, ranging from The Venice Glass Week HUB and The Venice Glass Week HUB Under35 at the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti in Campo Santo Stefano to a wide variety of furnaces, glassworks, artisanal workshops, museums, institutions, galleries, hotels, universities, private residences and beyond. Aiming to showcase, celebrate and support the art of glass in all its forms - from the traditional to the highly experimental and innovative - the Programme included a wealth of events and projects organised by over 200 participants including glassworks, artists, designers, galleries, museums, institutions, foundations and associations from all over the world: exhibitions, installations, guided tours, workshops, demonstrations, conferences, performances, kids’ activities, film screenings, themed dinners, concerts and so much more.

The Venice Glass Week 2023 has fired us all up for the seventh consecutive year, and we’d like to express our most sincere thanks to all those who supported and took part in the festival, from the Organising Committee to the Curatorial Committee, to our Sponsors, Partners and Participants, and to the thousands of visitors who attended the events. We're already looking forward to welcoming you in 2024 - the dates of the next edition will be announced soon!
