To complement this summer’s exhibition Light of Saints. A Photographic Pilgrimage at the Chapel of the Museon Arlaten, the Rencontres d’Arles has invited director Tony Gatlif (Latcho Drom, Gadjo dilo, Exils, Liberté, Tom Medina…) to tell us the story of the Gitanos, Manouches, Romani, and Travelers of France and Europe. Through the voice of actor James Thierrée, Tony Gatlif recounts the tale of these peoples, whose memory is lost in an endless present where myths and stereotypes are confused with reality.À travers la voix de l’acteur James Thierrée, Tony Gatlif fait le récit de ces peuples, pour qui la mémoire se perd dans un présent sans fin et où les mythes et clichés se confondent avec la réalité.
