Die Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac Salzburg präsentiert John Cages bedeutendes Schaffen als Komponist und bildender Künstler vereint in einer Installation, die sich seiner berühmten Ryoanji-Serie von 1983-1992 widmet. Inspiriert durch den Steingarten von Ryōan-ji ("Tempel des friedlichen Drachen"), einem buddhistischen Zen-Tempel, den Cage 1962 in Kyoto, Japan, zum ersten Mal besuchte, zeigt die Ausstellung eine Auswahl seiner Ryoanji-Zeichnungen neben Aufnahmen seiner Ryoanji-Kompositionen für verschiedene Instrumente. Ein vollständig illustrierter Katalog mit einem Interview mit John Cage, seinen Manuskripten und Noten sowie einem neuen Aufsatz von James Pritchett, Experte für Cages Œuvre, begleitet die Ausstellung.
