Museum Voorlinden proudly presents the first-ever European retrospective of the work of American painter Wayne Thiebaud (1920) on show from 9 June. He has become a phenomenon in the United States. His paintings of cakes, ice creams and hotdogs, painted in a clear composition, with fresh colours and luscious brushstrokes are painted in such a delicious way that you almost want to eat them. Thiebaud’s art exudes a spirit of Americana, in taking the typical, everyday world as one's subject.

For seventy years, Wayne has been painting the same subjects over and over each day. He never grows tired of them, simply because, as a painter, he begins anew each and every day; he continues to search for solutions to painterly problems. Voorlinden brings together around sixty of his works from 1961 to 2018.
