Los Angeles (November 12, 2013)— Paris Photo, the world’s most celebrated art fair dedicated to the photographic medium, announces its second edition of Paris Photo Los Angeles taking place at Paramount Pictures Studios from April 25-27, 2014.

The Los Angeles fair follows the 17th edition of the original Paris Photo fair, opening this week at the Grand Palais in Paris. Taking place November 14-17, 2013, Paris Photo is presenting more than 160 exhibitors and expecting to attract over 55,000 visitors.

Paris Photo Los Angeles expanding from the original fair reflects the international interest in photography and moving images, and establishes Paris Photo, organized by Reed Exhibitions, as a truly global brand with broad reach and appeal.

“We are thrilled to bring Paris Photo back to Los Angeles at the historic Paramount Pictures Studios for a second year. The response to the first edition in the United States was tremendous,” said Julien Frydman, Paris Photo Director. “The week during Paris Photo Los Angeles will be an extraordinary one. In addition to the fair, a number of events will be taking place around the city and in the region at our participating institutions, which include the Annenberg Space for Photography, the Getty, the Hammer Museum, LACMA, MOCA and more. The fair will be a unique occasion to meet with prominent collectors, museum directors, curators, artists and celebrity attendees from Los Angeles and around the world.”

Attendees will experience the creative environment of Los Angeles, where Hollywood and film intersect with contemporary art and culture. In addition to being at the crossroads of art and the entertainment industry, the Los Angeles location benefits from its close relation to San Francisco, Latin America and Asian art markets, offering a dynamic context to discover artists from the region.

SOUND & VISION PROGRAMSound and Vision in the Sherry Lansing Theatre will again feature a series of dialogues with artists and thinkers who have explored the boundaries between the still and moving image in contemporary and modern art. In the 2013 edition, participants of the Sound and Vision program included: John Divola, Richard Misrach, Erin O’Toole, Thomas Demand, Doug Aitken, Chrissie Iles, Gregory Crewdson, Matthew Weiner, Marc-Olivier Wahler, Catherine Opie, An-My Lê, Rani Singh, Alec Soth, Roe Ethridge, Simon Baker, Sharon Lockhart and Phil Collins. Independent curator Douglas Fogle will once again organize an outstanding lecture series for Paris Photo Los Angeles 2014.

Applicants will be able to participate in one or more of the Fair’s sections, which are being curated around Paramount Pictures Studios’ unique locations. Sites for installation include a specially built structure at the iconic Blue Sky Tank and backdrop, Soundstages 31 and 32 and the New York Street Backlot, where some of the most famous films in the world have been shot.

THE BLUE SKY EXHIBITION TENT AND SOUNDSTAGES 31 & 32 The Blue Sky Exhibition Tent and Soundstages 31 and 32 will contain a selection of leading international galleries, each presenting historical and contemporary bodies of works by exceptional artists.

YOUNG GALLERIES & PUBLISHERS SECTOR IN NEW YORK STREET BACKLOT The unique location of the New York Street Backlot at Paramount Pictures Studios is dedicated to presenting approximately 15 cutting edge young gallery shows alongside a selection of publishers from around the world. This replica of New York City offers an amazing opportunity to present artist works. Each selected gallery and publisher will be allocated one of the exclusive sets.
